Back to Cool
With 3 inspiring kids
They’re reimagining the school uniform and customizing their kicks. They’re remixing their mom’s stuff. They’re much, much cooler than us. Kids today! Meet three tweens who have a big head-start on crafting their personal style — take notes.
Shop Back to School →MEET ZOE
The uniform-loving, skateboarding 11-year-old turns to world cultures for inspo, and has a foolproof formula for getting dressed. “I choose one stand-out piece, and then build the rest of my outfit around it,” she says. “Kids today are way more stylish than people give them credit for!”
“It’s not just about the fit, it’s about
how it makes you feel.”
MEET MAX
It’s Vans-life for Max, an 11-year-old BMX fanatic who has been wearing the iconic slip-on sneaks since he could walk. His favourite borrows come from an unexpected source: mom. “We kind of dress the same,” he says.
“If we go out on the weekend
then sometimes I will wear a pair
of my mom’s shoes because we’re
the same size, and she has
a lot of shoes.”
MEET JOY
“I’m just really excited about being in the highest grade in my school.” says Joy, the eighth-grade dancer, whose love of hip-hop shakes out in her outfits. “Oversized t-shirts, cardigans, or sweatpants,” are one element, she says. “Baggy clothes to make me feel big and powerful when dancing hip-hop.”
